I know I am a total Mo.
However.
Regarding "Polyester Bride."
What exactly is she talking about here? What is Henry trying to say?
I just don't get it.
Again, I am a Mo.
Please explain accordingly.
kthnxbye.

two questions:
does anyone have a larger version of this picture of Liz's silhouette?:
and does anyone know where I can get live Liz videos? Or can someone hook me up with a live performance?

Does anyone know of a place to find Liz bootlegs? I'm looking in particular to the first night she played in NYC on this tour.

i went to see liz phair tonight! in first ave. (which is in minneapolis, for those in the liz community). i have never met liz phans before, except my friend jeremy, and it was great! everyone was really nice. i met a bunch of people and then this guy asked me if i have seen her before, and i said that i have waited since 1992 to see her, and they moved me to the front/center. i was right next to the stage and liz was about 5 feet from me the whole time. i got a guitar pick and she even looked at me and smiled (then again i had the huge goggles (points at my icon, which is a pic of me, for those in the community) and most people always check them out, so i think liz was wondering what the hell i was wearing on my face. she touched my hand after the show and all that. i left the show and like literally a bunch of liz phans were out and we talked a lot and hung out. it was really neat. i always thought i was a hardcore phan, but everyone had me beat. i did had the seniority and the chicagoness on all of them, but that's about it. it was way way too cool!

12:28 pm - Liz at the Roxy
|

Me and a buddy went to see Liz Phair last night at the Roxy in Hotlanta...This was my 7th time seeing her on 3 different tours...Its a true addage when people say they "Mellow with Age"...This holds true for Liz and last nights show...Her band is amazing and Dino is a master of the "White Gretsch Falcon" in which is his main guitar...But the band just lacks chemistry...Its as if Liz has become more "Mature", if you will, in her choice of sounds and music writing as of late...My fear is that she wants to be the worthless Sheryl Crow type that collects royalties and dates athletes...That being typed...I sang along to the songs and enjoyed the performance very much...Shes will always be in my top 5 song writers of all time...The band had a few issues with knowing her full catalog as requests for songs were being taken from the crowd...She played a good variety of material...I almost choked when she played "Wild Thing"...That was my first time hearing her play that live...
The first band, cant remember what they were called, was so horrible that I just decided to smoke cigs and drink beer in the smoking section...I think they were 2 songs from finishing their set when the singer joked about no one cussing them or something...So I yelled out, "Slayer", which is a metal band from the 80's and still going on strong today...The singer said he did not know any Slayer...Whats funny is that when I was out in the smoking section a guy said he was laughing at the Slayer analogy...My buddy told him I said it and he goes, "That band would not know Slayer if it hit them in the head"...Basically what im getting at is the first band sucked and I would have prefered Liz to just play a 3 hour show instead...

12:50 am - LIZ PHAIR JUST KISSED ME.....TWICE

um, ok.
looking back on my life, I really can't think of a more amazing night. like really.
My two friends and I made an early start up to the Roxy so we could get good parking, eat dinner, and get a good spot when the doors opened. I decided I would bring my camera this time around, because I usually never do, and I also brought my new copy of Somebody's Miracle, just in case, for some miracle, I would have a chance to get it autographed.
We decided to go to Johnny Rocket's to eat and walked there from the venue, we actually walked about 15 minutes out of the way before figuring out where it really was, which was annoying, but if we hadn't messed up the directions, my night wouldn't have been as awesome.
Johnny Rockets was pretty empty so we sat down, got our food and made a sign that said "I love Liz" to show at the concert. We were talking about how cool it would be to meet her and about the time when I was suggesting my friend Leslie should try and get her to autograph her shoe, Leslie stopped and asked..."is that Liz Phair?"
yes, Liz phair, with son Nick, in front of my table at Johnny Rocket's
this is about the part when I pee in my pants. After gawking for about 2 full minutes I finally call out "LIZ!" she came over and was SO FREEKING NICE! I told her I was 'her biggest fan' and then felt dumb after saying so but I was soooo tounge tied. She autographed my cd and I had my picture taken with her and we showed her our sign and she was so funny "you still have to hold that up tonight" and then she apologised for interrupting our dinner, silly Liz, too bad you made my night!
So she and her son and a friend of hers sat outside to eat while I sat inside, basically freaking out. I felt so dumb for being such a dumb giggly groupie, so I decided to write her a note saying how much I appreciate her music and her message, I told her I idolized her and wished her luck on her performance tonight and asked her to keep writing. We all finished our notes and handed them to her on our way out. She was so sweet. She laughed at the fact I knew who Nick was and his name and said hello to him and was pretty awesome. So we left her alone, and went to the show.
We got front center seats and I was so happy. The opening band was so cute. Matt Pond PA, I really enjoyed them but still, I couldn't wait for Liz.
She came on and played a few songs acoustic, which were perfect. Her set list was amazing, she was hilarious and having so much fun. She played so many songs that weren't on her set list just for the crowd, she even sang 'wild thing, you make my heart sing' and it was perfect. I sang along to all the songs and adored being in front of her, she looked so amazing! She pointed at me during rock me and gave me a thumbs up and I like, died.(I am so nerdy) She messed up a few times on cinqo de miyo and it's sweet, but I thought it made it so much better. She was so much fun to watch. My friends were eager to leave toward the end but I begged them to stay for her encoure, and it is a good thing otherwise, this wouldn't of happened.
She came back on stage and began singing flower when she pointed at me again, and then to my utter shock and disbeleif BROUGHT ME UP ON STAGE WITH HER! WTF!?!?!
So, I sang flower, with Liz Phair at the Roxy on stage and of course I freaked out and forgot most of the words but everyone cheered and clapped and It was ....I'm speechless- And She hugged me and kissed me on the cheek TWICE and all I could say was ILOVEYOUTHANKYOUSOMUCHILOVEYOU.
I can't beleive I just met my Idol. and I really don't think it can get much better than tonight.
Thank you Liz for that fucking awesome show.

What are everyone's thoughts on 'Somebody's Miracle'??
I definitely don't think it sounds as polished as her self-titled album. It reminds me of her older stuff with a more modern edge to it.
I love 'Count On My Love' and 'Why I Lie'.

ok. I am a Liz Phair fan, so it's for obvious reasons that I joined this community a while back. I think I've only updated once on here since I've been a memeber but I read every post and enjoy hearing about what other fans have to say and updates on Liz. When I say that I'm a fan, I mean I am a whole-hearted one and I am no fair-weather fickle friend when it comes to Liz Phair. I am a fan of her music, and I am a fan of her as a person. I love talking to people who feel the same way about her and want to know what they think.
I actually had never heard of Liz until Why Can't I? was released. I fell in love with her at once and wanted to know everything about her. I've been to three of her shows and have all of her albums released so far. I love 'old Liz' just as much as I do 'new Liz'. I think no matter how 'poppy' she sounds, you can't ignore how amazing her writing is and the power she exudes in her music. It's really captivating, for me, there is no other way to describe it. I put her music on and I get chills and my tensions relax and she is just everything I love. I'm tired of people bashing her for changing her style in Liz Phair, and I'm tired of reading old fans of hers explain why they no longer listen to her and are expecting her next album to be awful. To me, Liz is awesome whatever she does, and she makes it a point to do what she wants, thats what makes her so awesome. And I absolutley cant wait till the 4th.
Im listening to her new song stars and planets and it really made me want to update this. I just wanted to know if anyone else agreed with me.

Hi, I'm new! :-) Thought I'd post about my thoughts on the new album heehee.
so I heard the first single and threw up in my mouth a little bit. Seemed like Liz was taking her "i'm a pop princess" mode even further.
Then I heard people talking and everyone would say, "I hear the new Liz Phair album SUCKS really bad". So I said "i give up on her". But thanks to the internet I stumbled across a leaked copy of the album.
My jaw is on the floor because it's actually QUITE great! I love it already more than "Liz Phair" (which I liked, but not as a liz phair album), some of the songs are even borderline "Old school Liz" haha. Only one or two of the other songs sound like the first single (so i can probably guess what the other singles are) and the rest of it is just awesome!
It excites me so I'm making it my duty to let people know it doesn't suck hah. OH and that I will be buying it when it comes out of course! Yay!
it made my day that I'm loving this album!
